1. Định Nghĩa
Tiền tố- Prefix hay Tiếp đầu ngữ là một chữ cái hoặc một nhóm chữ cái kết hợp với nhau xuất hiện ở đầu một từ mà làm thay đổi nghĩa gốc của từ.
Hậu tố- Suffix hay Tiếp vị ngữ là một chữ cái hoặc một nhóm chữ cái kết hợp với nhau thường được thêm vào cuối từ để thực hiện chức năng ngữ pháp của câu
2. Tiền tố
Tiền tố được thêm vào trước từ gốc để ra được một từ mới mang nghĩa trái ngược hoặc mang một nghĩa khác
